A little about Shir Chodosh...

Our philosophy - first and foremost - is that this is your Simcha. Whatever styles or songs you want us to play - that's what we'll play. We're not out to impress anyone other than you. You order the food that you want served and the color scheme that you design, so why shouldn't the music be exactly to suite your taste too?!

There are lots of great bands out there... What sets us apart from many other bands is our stage presence and showmanship. We are young, energetic and professional musicians that love to have a great time while we play. This isn't our '9 to 5 job', it's what we love to do - making people happy with our music! That energy and excitement always feeds into our crowd.

Vocal's add a touch of emotion that no instrument can match. The power of lyrics brought out by a singer is something only a human can produce. We tap into that power quite a bit by incorporating a very 'vocal' style to our music. The vocals are 'up front' in the mix and enhanced with many real vocal harmonies (as opposed to a machine that creates the harmonies synthetically). It creates a tremendous amount of positive emotional energy that makes everyone want to sing along.

We can supply you with many, many happy references upon request.

So why is it that most bands
always play so LOUD?!

A large part of what makes a band loud is the acoustics of the room. Sound bouncing in every direction without proper absorption and/or diffusion, makes you hear everything 10 times as much. Another big factor is that you can't turn the volume down on a drummer, as drums are an acoustic instrument - and a loud one at that!

Our Sound Engineer makes a special effort not only to make the sound tight, punchy and the perfect mix, but also to tame the room so that the music will 'sound' loud without actually being too loud! Depending on the venue, we use a plexiglas shield in front of our drummer to stop a good portion of the sound. Then with properly positioned microphones, we can actually turn down his volume!! Not to mention that it looks pretty cool too!! Guitarists like to play loud as well, so guitar amplifiers get similar treatment with a shield to control them.

Great effort is taken to keep the volume at a comfortable level - especially during dinner. You want to shmooze with your guests & relatives... not scream at them! We really understand you - it's a wedding after all, not a concert. And as said before - we'll do it the way you want, if you want it loud - we can certainly accommodate, we'll be wearing earplugs...
